Why choose Seashell?

Royal School Manchester at Seashell Trust is a non-maintained special school with a Board of Governors made up of representatives from the Board of Directors of Seashell Trust together with representatives from local authorities, teaching and non-teaching staff and parents.

We received an outstanding Ofsted inspection in October 2016 and our provision is accredited through the National Autistic Society's quality assurance based Autism Accreditation Programme. We are also proud to have become a licensed Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Hub and are busily working towards becoming an Eco School.

The school is located in 90 acres of pleasant grounds in the beautiful Cheshire countryside to the south of Manchester.  We share these grounds with Royal College Manchester.

Our under 16 curriculum is broad and balanced using a sensory approach focusing on physical development and promotion of communication, independence and life skills.

Our Post 16 provision offers a comprehensive 3-year curriculum and includes off-site work experience in close conjunction with Royal College Manchester's Employment Services.

We have fabulous facilities on site including a swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool, sports hall with climbing wall and sensory rooms.

Our medical centre, audiology clinic and full range of specialist support including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy allow us to provide a very comprehensive education and care package for our children and young people which adds tremendous value and supports progress and achievement.

Our Assistive Technologists are constantly researching the lastest innovative technologies in order to implement new strategies to promote independence and develop communication.

From the initial assessment and admission through to leaving college we offer a family link service which provides support, information and advice to families and carers of students attending Seashell Trust.

We are very proud of our new build programme which has provided 17 new state of the art  homes in a village setting for children and young people.  The accommodation is available for students or or for those requiring a short break package.
