Virtual Sign Communication

Our virtual Sign Communication course uses voice and sign in English order. Sign Communication can be used with anyone who has additional communication needs.

Dates: Monday or Tuesday starting 11 & 12 January, running until Easter

Times: 9.30am, 10.40am, 11.50am, 1.15pm, 2.20pm, 4.40pm. Sessions are 1 hour slots via Zoom

Signalong Course

Signalong is a key word sign-supported communication system based on British sign language. Signalong is a total communication system and is used in spoken word order. It uses speech, sign, body language, facial expression and voice tone to reference the link between sign and word.

Virtual Makaton Signing for Babies

These virtual sessions are designed for you and your child to have fun and learn together, encourage development of communication and language skills in babies and toddlers.

You will learn approx. 100 signs and symbols using songs, games and activities.

Virtual Makaton Training: Levels 3 and 4

02nd November 2020

Levels 3 and 4 training follows on from the successful completion of Levels 1 and 2 (previously known as the Foundation Level). You will have the opportunity to revise signs and symbols from stages 1-4 of the Core Vocabulary and move on to learn and practise using signs and symbols from stages 5-8.

These workshops are delivered by Makaton Tutors who are part of the speech and language therapy outreach team.

The cost of the workshops includes tuition, Level 3 and 4 manuals and certificates of attendance from The Makaton Charity.

Virtual Makaton Taster Session

Our virtual taster session provides an introduction to Makaton and how it can support language and communication development. Participants will have an opportunity to learn a selection of 30 signs and symbols from the Makaton core vocabulary.
