Visual Support for People with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities

Date: Tuesday 14th May

Time: 5-6.30pm

Price: £45

Children and young people with autistic spectrum conditions can find it difficult to understand what is happening around them, which may sometimes lead to anxiety or frustration.  Visual support can be used to aid their understanding of spoken language and what others expect of them.

This three part workshop will cover why we use visuals with people with autism, how to choose the right visuals and what these can be used to achieve. We will also look at how to adapt strategies for different students.

You’ll learn how to use visuals to:

* Tell students what’s happening

* Promote independence

* Motivate students to participate

* Explain changes to routine or social concepts
